Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy: Addressing orthopaedic problems like never before.
After it was first introduced in the late 1960s, arthroscopy fast became one of the most important tools used by orthopaedic surgeons to determine the source and extent of joint problems. Over the years, much greater power and versatility in medical imaging have reduced arthroscopy’s diagnostic role while improvements to arthroscopes and surgical instruments have helped make it a primary method of treatment for joint disorders. In fact, arthroscopy is now one of the most common orthopaedic procedures. At Wooster Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center, our orthopaedic surgeons perform the full spectrum of arthroscopic procedures.
Common conditions found with arthroscopy.
When is arthroscopy right for you?
Following diagnostic studies (X-ray evaluation or MRI) and requisite health-history and hands-on orthopaedic evaluation, an arthroscopic intervention by our experienced orthopaedic specialists may help relieve pain, swelling or impingement in your joints. During the procedure, we look for damaged cartilage, ligaments, tendons and muscle tissue that may be responsible for your symptoms. Once the source is determined, we can repair or even remove certain damaged tissues.
